SUMMARY:Tardive Dyskinesia (TD) Awareness Week May 5-11
DESCRIPTION:TARDIVE DYSKINESIA (TD) IS A REAL\, CHRONIC CONDITION\nIt means having body movements you can’t control. \nTD is not a side effect. It’s a condition where people experience persistent\, uncontrollable movements in different parts of their bodies. These movements can be rapid and jerky or slow and writhing\, and they can vary in severity. \nIf it feels like uncontrollable movements are taking control of your body\, it could be TD. \nEven mild movements from TD could have emotional and social consequences.* They can cause worry\, frustration\, and self-consciousness. It’s important to know that diagnosis and treatment by a healthcare provider may help you manage your TD. \n\nSymptoms of tardive dyskinesia (TD)\, a persistent\, involuntary movement disorder\, include uncontrollable\, abnormal & repetitive movements of the face and/or body parts which may appear differently from person to person.\n~65% of people living with tardive dyskinesia (TD) have not yet been diagnosed\, which is why it’s important for individuals being treated for mental illness with antipsychotic medications receive routine screenings.\n\nPlease click on the link below to hear Shelly’s story. \n\n\n\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eokbk-r9Lmg \nLearn more at TalkAboutTD.com \nhttps://www.talkabouttd.com/
